Large Books
Within the pages and chapters of Marilyn’s larger books, you will enter a complete world of unique and abundant information. Every possible detail has been covered with examples ranging from basic use of the information to a vast array of advanced variations!
….An abundant array of colorful photographs have been included – both Marilyn’s quilts and those of her students - will visually inspire you. Every fabric combination from sweet to exotic, tailored to gushy, childish to ethnic has been included! Marilyn even shows you “what not to do”!
Marilyn’s smaller books have been written in a very focused manner. As if a “short cut” to making (1) dynamic quilt, very quickly; like over the weekend! She always includes several variations and multiple fabric choices from scrappy to controlled and at least (4) photographs featuring distinctly diverse fabric moods or “as she calls the “voices.
The designs in her Strata Art Quilt Series look difficult to make - as if complex templates or special rulers are needed. Don’t be fooled, they are very easy and quick to make! All of her designs are made featuring Rotary Magic, cutting techniques which require a normal ruler and basic rotary cutting tools.
Appliqué
Doheny Publications features an assortment of authors and their signature appliqué techniques – from hand to machine to fusible! Starting off the list is Marilyn’s first book she ever wrote – entitled Goosey Hearts, now a collector’s classic! And her first pattern ever published called Trailing Vines…an inspired copy of a famous antique’ quilt by Susan Mc Cord from the 1800’s.
Our assortment of appliqué’ books, patterns and tri-fold Snippet Sensations projects, featuring Marilyn’s work as well as other authors, will entice you with their clear instructions, abundant ideas, diverse techniques and of course enticing photographs……We offer appliqué’ with a contemporary, fresh appeal – there is something for everyone. And remember that even if an author features hand or machine or fusible techniques for her designs, you are free to use any technique you prefer and make the design that inspired you, “your way”!
Patterns
Our assortment of patterns, both Marilyn’s and those of other talented artists are “once again”, diverse, unique and inspiring! Take a look, see for yourself. We have useful patterns (Reticule) and traditional patterns (Maple Leaves – Sparkle Star) and even childish patterns (Here Come The Clowns) and a few in-between! ….

By the way - Reticule is a French country woman’s sewing bag – YOU MUST HAVE ONE! We offer 3 sizes and you will love the ease of making them, for transporting your sewing projects (large sizes) for evening handbags (small size), and diaper bags or beach carry-alls…… (Medium size)……

You have just entered Marilyn’s “over the top” addiction!!!! She is still in love and significantly focused on using her own rulers in new and innovative ways…. (She might need therapy in the future)……Marilyn’s rulers, have all instructions/patterns provided!!!!!

You can use these quality tools in “infinite” ways…… Sit down, buckle up and get ready for warp speed…..Marilyn invented her first ruler – the 45 degree Kaleidoscope and was (still is) the first quilter to provide a tool, with complete instructions for use – no additional purchase necessary. Her 9 Degree Circle Wedge Rulers have become a world wide-phenomena – and are now available in 5 sizes- from miniature to king! Each ruler comes with 20 + diverse wedge designs and all fabric, cutting and sewing illustrations necessary to be successful…. In addition to Marilyn’s other skills and passions and products, she offers herself to the quilting world in other vital ways….She is an outstanding judge – and lecturer.
When judging, she is willing to be verbally opinionated while having a huge heart…..she is very compassionate. Marilyn is an artist, who encourages each quilter, acknowledging “where they are” –and encouraging them to grow. .Marilyn is willing to write “her truth/opinion” about each and every quilt entry. She wholeheartedly believes we are all here for each other’s growth as well as pruning…..She judges for quilt shows – of all sizes! She is known for staying late into the evening – continuing to write detailed commentary to each quilter about her entry – knowing she has met a small part of a quilter through her quilt…..
Marilyn is also a passionate award winning lecturer or Master of Ceremonies Presenter – her lecturers are “over the top”, verbally and visually. You will laugh out loud, be brought to tears and definitely find your life inspired and your heart renewed – perhaps transformed…..Each lecture is filled with quotes which you will want to write down. Marilyn is very personable, she shares personal information about her life experiences and challenges and insights as a mother, creative/passionate woman and wife – all while being an internationally famous quilter/author/lecturer and friend to everyone! Marilyn offers 8 diverse lecturers and each has a specific thrust or theme….each lecture is so unique, you will want to experience each of them in your life….
